Educational Presentations

The Fire Prevention Division offers various educational opportunities and programs to all age groups from pre-school aged children to senior citizens. We have programs specifically designed to address the issues of each age group, covering areas such as fire and injury prevention. In addition, safety programs can be adjusted to meet your educational needs.

Fire Extinguisher Training

Utilizing an approved training curriculum, Middletown Fire personnel train members of the community in the correct selection and usage of portable fire extinguishers. This program involves a multi-media presentation that includes a review of fire safety. Students then participate in a live fire drill that gives them an opportunity to practice extinguishing the flames with the fire extinguisher.

Station Tours

Station tours provide an opportunity for the public to see how and where many of our firefighters work and live. In addition, an up-close look at our equipment gives many a rare display. Tours are available for any age group. Contact us today! We would love to show you our facilities and equipment!

Child Safety Seat Program

Due to personnel issues and resources, the Middletown Fire Protection District has made the decision to discontinue providing this service, effective January 1, 2007. While we now cannot personally assist you with your Child Safety Seat needs, we hope that the following links will provide you with the information you need to help make your children as safe as possible.

Annual Open House

Once a year during the month of October, the Middletown Fire Protection District hosts an annual Open House. This Open House brings in hundreds of members from our community. It provides an opportunity for our public to visit with the firefighters that serve them. In addition, it allows us to show you what Middletown Fire has to offer. Free hot dogs and refreshments provide the back-drop to a family-focused event. Event activities often include auto-extrication demonstrations, fire truck displays, an opportunity to try on firefighter gear, and much more! Check back often to our site to learn more as information becomes available for the next Open House. Hope to see you there!

Summer Reading Incentives Program

Middletown Fire Protection District believes that reading provides the foundation for success. To support that belief, we began the Summer Reading Incentives Program in 2003. Upon registration, children ages 3-13 receive a packet of program information along with several fire safety prizes and activities. The program encourages children to read a set minimum number of books. After submitting a log journal that records the books that he/she has read, participants are eligible to attend special events held just for them! In the past, these have included a Spray Party (where a fire engine squirts water and children and PARENTS TOO! are allowed to play in it!) and a Pizza Party with the firefighters. Registration usually begins late-May. Contact the program coordinator for more information!

Family Film Night

Middletown Fire Protection District knows that family is important. With our busy lives, it can be difficult to spend alot of quality time with our families. To help provide our community that opportunity, we combined Fire Safety Education with Family Fun! Family Film Night was introduced in 2004. It traditionally has been held the Friday night after Thanksgiving. A short Holiday Fire Safety presentation is usually given followed by a viewing of a popular family-appropriate film on a gigantic movie screen. Attendees bring chairs and sleeping bags for comfortable seating and are provided popcorn and refreshments. Information regarding this free event is usually out mid-October, early November. Contact the program coordinator for more information!
